Rita Erlich is a food writer with an interest in all aspects of food and eating: restaurant reviews, cooking, history, wine, horticulture, nutrition. She's the author/editor of more than 30 books, including 15 editions of The Age Good Food Guide. Her latest books are The Makers: a story of food, family and foreigners and SP: A Cook's Story (with chef Scott Pickett). She is a regular broadcaster on travel.

As rich in food culture as the recipes are good.

This is the compendium edition, bring together three wonderful books.
The Book of Jewish Food
Great research, fine recipes.
Larousse Gastronomique
The first English edition, for preference. The later ones are more modern, less intensely French.
River Café Cookbook Green
A lovely appreciation of seasonal cooking.
